June Highlights

Kristen | July 10, 2010

Before I dive into our vacation photos I thought I’d post some of my favorites from June. Here goes!

Sheep Pasture

Quinn and his friend Luke hiking at the Sheep Pasture (notice Quinn’s inside out shirt – mind you, I’m not complaining, I just find it amusing! The previous day Miles got himself dressed and put everything on backward. Fun times here, oh yeah.)

Slip'n'slide

Testing out the slip’n’slide for the first time (we bought at the church fair last fall so it’s been a long wait!)

Slip'n'slide

Testing out the new camera, too!

First dip in the pool

First dip in the pool for 2010! Don’t worry, the water is crystal clear now – we just couldn’t wait that long to take a dip. Think the boys like the water?

Father's Day at Brockton Rox

We celebrated Father’s Day and Becca’s birthday by going to a Brockton Rox game. It was SO HOT that the seats were difficult to sit down on! But before the game we got to go out on the field and toss tennis balls around. Check out Miles’s great catching form in the picture below – I guess his feet have to be off the ground to catch the ball! After we were done with our game of catch, Miles said to Becca, “that was a fun baseball game!” I think he thought we were leaving even though the game hadn’t even started yet. Oops! Luckily he still had a good time, despite the heat. We were all really happy to jump in the pool once we got back from the game!

Quinn also finished up kindergarten in June and is already looking forward to first grade in the fall. Yikes! Miles is starting preschool in the fall and is having fun playing school with Quinn this summer.

There are lots more photos in the June album! Go check them out!

Ski weekend and Grandma’s birthday

Kristen | February 19, 2010

This past weekend was a long weekend so we took the opportunity to go up to New Hampshire for more skiing! We also celebrated my mom’s birthday, a bit belated, but it was great to do it with the family all together. (Don’t miss the video link down below!)

We skied two days at Cranmore, where my cousin and his girlfriend work, and here’s Miles with the Cranmore mascot! He remembered him from last time we were here and ran right over to give him a hug.

Skiing

Here he is again, skiing with Grandpa.

Here’s Quinn giving Grandma the special birthday card that he made for her.

Snoozing

Our third day of skiing was at King Pine, and Miles started learning to turn! Here’s a video of him at KP. He can do the little magic carpet run at KP all by himself – getting on and off the carpet and then skiing down, even with a lot of other people on the hill.

Also at KP, Quinn had a disagreement with Eric on the last run about which trail to take and ended up colliding with another child. His injury was mild, but he ended up in first aid because he was bleeding everywhere! Here he is a few hours later at dinner with his lovely fat lips!

Skiing skiing skiing!

Kristen |

We spent a week in January up at Mittersill again this year. Three days of skiing at Bretton Woods, one at Cannon, and one at Loon rounded out the week. We also made our obligatory stop at the Woodstock Inn for tasty food and beer. Make sure you go down to the bottom and click on the video links, too!

Now this is how to spend your birthday!

Skiing

Eric did get Miles to take a nap in the lodge, but not until day 4 of vacation!

Skiing

Quinn got to take his first gondola ride at Loon Mountain. He skied all three peaks of Loon that day!

Skiing

A beautiful day to cap off a great week of skiing!

Skiing

And don’t miss the video of Quinn skiing.
And here’s one of Miles, too.
Both of these were shot at Bretton Woods

Yippee! You’re three!

Kristen |

Miles turned three in January during our ski vacation. We brought some decorations and silly hats (or “stilly” hats, as Miles calls them) and had a party on the evening before his birthday. The cake (banana, per the birthday boy’s request) survived the trip and fortunately he thought it was tasty, too! He even blew out the candles without any prompting!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Kristen | October 1, 2009

We celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday a couple of weeks ago. On his actual birthday, Becca and I took him to a Red Sox game:

Red Sox game

We all had matching hats! Since I’m not in the photo you’ll have to take my word for it. :)

A couple days later we had planned to go to King Richard’s Faire, so Becca and I decided to invite some extra friends along to make it a surprise birthday celebration for dad. Here’s almost all of us:

King Richard's Faire

Yes, a bunch of us were in costume, including the boys (thankfully they have both agreed to wear these costumes for Halloween, too!):

King Richard's Faire

We all had fun at the fair – there were shows to see…

King Richard's Faire

…and games to play (I think my mom was a bit startled by Miles’s crossbow shot, wouldn’t you say?)…

King Richard's Faire

…and children to crop out of photos when they wouldn’t cooperate (Quinn refused to stand up, so I told him to get down low – amazingly enough, he listened!)…

King Richard's Faire

…and beer to drink!

Hmmm…I don’t seem to have a photo of that. Oh well! :)

And after a long day of playing at the faire, some of us returned to my parents’ house for dinner and to have Dad’s traditional favorite birthday dessert – apfel kuchen! The candles were courtesy of Marybeth and Malcolm.

There are more photos from the faire in the 60th Birthday Party Album. See Quinn attempting to slay the dragon, Miles’s painted face, and more friends!
